How much does it cost to join?
The membership fee is $100 for the first six months. Membership fees thereafter are $25 every 6 months. There are also meeting dues of $12/week which cover the meeting place and a buffet lunch. Meeting dues are payable one month in advance.
How often do you meet?
We meet Thursdays at lunch time in Fairport. On average, we take off one meeting per month, which coincides with regular holidays whenever possible. Therefore, we meet 40 times per year.
How many meetings can you miss?
We strive for 100% attendance from our members, but realize this is not always possible. Therefore, each member is granted two missed meetings in a six-month period with no penalty.
What should I do if I can't make a meeting?
You should try to get a substitute to attend in your place. Acceptable subs are anyone who works directly with you, or someone from another profession/company who does not directly compete with any current member.
Do you allow more than one person per business category?
No. Only one member per business category, profession or service is allowed in the group.
How many meetings may I attend as a visitor before submitting an application for membership?
Just one, for free. If you wish to attend a second meeting, we ask that you pay $12 for your lunch. After that you must make a decision whether or not you'd like to join.
What is the membership application process?
First you shoud attend a meeting, introduce yourself to the members, and determine if our group may be a good fit for you. Then you must submit a membership application along with a check for $100. The Leadership Committee will then review the application, possibly schedule an interview, and decide whether to approve the application. If your application is approved, you will be invited to attend the next meeting.
Are you part of a larger organization like BNI?
No. We are an independent group that is completely self-governed. Ours is the only BNY chapter.
How long have you been around?
We have been in existence since February of 2007.
